Class Ratings

In General Aviation the different types of aircraft are divided into different classes, in which the pilot has to be trained and licensed to fly an aircraft within this class.
Those classes may not be confused with a Type Rating, which are used by commercial airlines and aircrafts.
Following 3 classes are used in General Aviation: TMG, SEP and MEP

Requirements

At least one Class Rating is trained during your regular PPL(A) Training Course.
If an additional Class Rating after the PPL(A) Training is intended, an additional training course has to be done, certified and issued to the existing Licence.

Requirements are:
  • at least a valid PPL(A) licence with
    • TMG and/or
    • SEP rating
  • valid MEDICAL

TMG - Touring Motor Glider

Grob 109B
Requirements: PPL(A)-SEP, Medical Class 2, radio tel. licence
Training: at least 3h flight training
Duration: approx. 2 weeks
Exams: practical and theoretical

SEP - Single Engine Piston

Mooney M20K
Requirements: PPL(A)-TMG, Medical Class 2, radio tel. licence
Training: at least 3h flight training
Duration: approx. 2 weeks
Exams: practical and theoretical

MEP - Multi Engine Piston

Diamond TwinStar
Requirements: PPL(A), Medical Class 2, radio tel. licence, 70h PIC
Training: at least 3,5h flight training, 2,5h FPT-II Simulator
Duration: approx. 2 weeks
Exams: practical and theoretical
